Welcome to the G.B.R.I. Website
We would like to thank you for taking the time to come and visit our site and share in the investigation. We are here to expand our resources and investigation by use of the internet and those who care to join us on our pursuit of proving the existence of Sasquatch. We are not a "new to the field research team", we have been here since 1962. We felt it to be necessary with today's technology to look at other areas in which we can expand dramatically our research. We have included in this, a forum so ideas can be expressed and looked into, we have added a documentary section were you will be able to view various documentaries, newsletters will be posted each month, and in some cases we will post various videos of our investigations as well as photos and sound bites. Of course there will be some evidence and locations that will not be available for public viewing as it is the responsibility of the G.B.R.I. to honor the confidentiality of those who have called us to help them and or support other teams in their investigations. Again we would like to thank you for coming, enjoy your stay here and if you would like to become a member of the team or a member of the investigation, there are forms that will need to be filled out and a team leader will be in contact with you within 2 days.
What is the G.B.R.I. ?
Georgia Bigfoot Research and Investigation is a group of individuals that were brought together as a team to document and study the phenomena known as Sasquatch aka Bigfoot. With over 100yrs combined experience in the study of Sasquatch between its members, the primary goal of the team is to prove the existence of this legendary and elusive creature. With the founding of the team in 1962 by William Lamar Allen who had an encounter with a Sasquatch in 1962, sought out to document and prove to the public that what he saw was real. William was later joined in his quest by his brother Jan C. Allen in 1968. The two then formed the Bigfoot Research and Investigation Team and from then put forth a extensive effort into proving the existence of this creature to this day. With the passing of William in 2000, Jan Allen has brought this team to a new level of research…using various methods taught by Native Americans, field researchers, and scientific analysis the team is ever closer to uncovering the greatest mystery of all time…Proving the existence of the legendary Sasquatch aka Bigfoot.

From 5000bc there have been reported sightings of a large bipedal primate roaming the forest, mountains, rain forest, and swamps of the world. Reports differ in description among early man and various tribes of ancient people. They have been called, wild men, Wildman, ape-men, bush-men, and what scientist call today Gigantopithecus. Although it is speculative as to this being what this creature really is, there is no proof as of yet.
During the early years of the United States, Native Americans had frequent encounters with these creatures. Throughout the different tribes of Indians during the settling of the states they were visited and stalked at times by the creature. The Indians had many names for the creature. I encourage you to look them up. There have been reports of attacks and in some cases there was alleged trading among the creatures and the Indians. Although it has not been proven, it is still part of the creature’s history. Native Americans have an assorted history of these with a wide range of variables. The majority of the Native lore is spiritual in nature.
The local legends were combined together by J. W. Burns in a series of Canadian newspaper articles in the 1920s. Each language had its own name for the local version. Many names meant something along the lines of "wild man" or "hairy man" although other names described common actions it was said to perform (e.g. eating clams). Burns coined the term Sasquatch, which is from the Halkomelem sásq’ets and used it in his articles to describe a hypothetical single type of creature reflected in these various stories. Burn’s articles popularized both the legend and its new name, making it well known in western Canada before it gained popularity in the United States.
In 1924 A man by the name of Albert Ostman claimed to have been abducted by a Sasquatch and held captive by a family of creatures, only to escape by giving them some snuff which made the creatures sick, allowing him to escape. Also in that same year Fred Beck and four other miners were attacked by several “ape-men” as he described how they looked to him during the encounter. He mentioned that the creatures were throwing large rocks at the cabin throughout the night.
In the 1950’s a renewed interest for the creature came about with a set of footprints photographed by Eric Shipton in 51 was said to be that of the Yeti. In 58 a set of large footprints were found by a bulldozer operator named Gerald Crew, these footprints were found multiple times around the job site he was working at. After reporting these prints many times to co workers and friends, no one believed what Crew was seeing. Gerald Crew made a plaster cast of one of the footprints. A photo was taken of him holding this cast of the footprint, the locals who had read the newspaper and seen the size of the footprint began call the thing that had made the footprint “Big Foot” and the name stuck. Today we still call this creature more often than not, Bigfoot!
The most famous bigfoot encounter of all time happened in 1967 by Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin. The incident to place at Bluff Creek, California, on a dried up river bed. Patterson and Gimlin who was on horseback came around a bend and the creature was knelt down in the river bed and stood to its feet and began to speedily walk away. Patterson grabbed a 16mm camera and began to film about 30 to 40 seconds of the most studied and important evidence to date of a Bigfoot creature. Since then research teams small and great have given time, money, countless hours, and lives to the research and study of these creatures. Sightings from all over the world have been investigated and of course many have proven to be hoaxes or misidentification of other animals. There are high percentages that are legitimate sightings and reports. Sightings have increased in many areas that were not thought possible, they have managed to show up in unlikely areas of the country. Never the less we are here to study and research these creatures hoping to gather as much evidence as possible to prove the existence of the legendary Sasquatch aka Bigfoot.
